Overview of the Delaware Governor’s Grant

The Delaware Governor’s Education Grant for Working Adults is a grant program offered to working individuals who are currently enrolled or are planning to enroll part-time in a college or university situated in Delaware. The aim of this scholarship is to provide a source of funding for adults who want to further their careers by acquiring a higher education. The Governor’s grant focuses on people that are currently employed, particularly those who are currently working in a small business in the State of Delaware.

Up to $2,000 of grant money is provided per scholarship recipient each academic year, and it can be renewed depending on the student’s academic achievements and other necessary requirements he or she has complied with.

Delaware Governor Grant Eligibility

Interested applicants who wish to apply for the Governor’s Education Grant for Working Adults must be residents of Delaware who are 18 years old and above. They should have a high school diploma or a GED, and should be currently employed and enrolled in full-time work. Full-time college students who plan to apply for the scholarship should be involved in a small business in order to qualify.

Working students who are also recipients of other scholarships are not eligible for this scholarship, the same goes with students who wish to pursue graduate level coursework.

Applicants should also demonstrate a level of financial need; they should not exceed 300% of the annual Federal Poverty Level.

How to Apply for the Governor’s Grant

Individuals who are planning to apply for the Governor’s grant can visit the Delaware Higher Education Office in their district in order to acquire entry forms. Among the necessary requirements to be submitted along with their application include updated transcript of records, proof of employment in a Delaware-based company, and federal income tax returns that show financial need.

Delaware Governor’s Grant Application Deadline

The deadline of submission of application requirements is before the end of the term of each academic year. Applications begin after July 11 of each year.
