The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship is a program available to single mothers and fathers who wish to continue their college education pursuits but could not do so due to financial instability. This program aims to help single parents in paying for their college education costs such as tuition, books, miscellaneous expenses, transportation and cost of living allowance while enrolled in a junior or community college, or in the university.
This scholarship is primarily available in Northern Arkansas, such as Carroll, Madison, or Washington County.
Single Parent Scholarship Eligibility
In order to qualify for the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship, applicants must have finished their high school education or possess a GED. They must as well be legal residents of the United States and of Arkansas, and are currently enrolled in a full-time or part-time course of study in an educational institution to help improve their family’s standard of living.
Applicants should have as well applied for a Pell Grant in order to qualify for the scholarship. They should also be living at poverty level.
To those who have previously been granted of the scholarship and wish to renew their grant, they must be able to maintain at least 2.0 GPA.
Applicants for the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship must also be enrolled in courses at the following institutions:

How to Apply
Interested parties may visit the Single Parent Scholarship Fund website and fill up an online application form. The website also enlists additional requirements such as transcript of records, federal income tax returns, and other papers which have to be submitted before the deadline of application.
Applicants will be scheduled for an interview with a panel of judges as part of the scholarship selection process.
Scholarship Application Deadline
The deadline of application for the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship is on June 15 for the Fall Semester, October 15 for the Spring semester, and March 15 for the Summer Semester. Applicants should be able to submit all the necessary requirements before the mentioned dates in order to be considered for the scholarship.
